Theoretically, your appearance lets the world know a little about yourself before opening your mouth. But confidence is fickle; an aesthetic can expose or eliminate one’s anxieties.

Although when everyone has a platform to voice their opinion, judgement is all-encompassing, and it is little surprise fashion has naturally migrated from magazines to social media.

Online shopping’s convenience also causes many of us to purchase duplicate sizes. Fit is imperative in clothing, but what is the carbon cost of it all? We’re unconsciously making decisions that compromise either convenience or climate; they can’t coexist.

In some instances, those decisions can be a luxury. We all need to wear clothes; fast fashion may be the only style that suits your budget. Meanwhile, it’s impossible not to notice the excess of others when there’s never been more freedom to flaunt it.

Fashion exposes what it is to be human, straddling dualities encapsulating modern existence.
